Friends of Patrick Muthuri Family Foundation here in the UK is a registered charity established to raise funds in support of the   Patrick Muthuri Family Foundation.

Monies raised by Friends of Patrick Muthuri Family Foundation is for the sole purpose of getting the orphaned, disadvantaged children of Kijijone and Meru off the streets and into Primary School education at the age of 7 until the age of 14 when they sit the Kenyan Certificate Primary Education (KCPE).

Whilst Primary School is free to attend for children aged 7-14 they are required to pay for a school uniform, shoes, food/health plan, sanitary products, sports kit, school books, pencils etc. without which they are not allowed to attend school.

Adoptive parents are often ageing grandparent(s), or next of kin relatives living in extreme poverty. Orphaned children are the poorest of the poor and without the financial support of the Patrick Muthuri Family Foundation they would have no future at all.

Girls Always in School One of the most critical areas of support we have been able to establish is the provision of FREE sanitary products  to girls at the age of puberty. Not just orphaned children but all girls attending the 20 Primary Schools receiving our support who are unable to afford sanitary care products. Girls would often not attend school for a week each month. The scheme has helped to take away some of the stigma attached to menstruation, improving  the girl’s health/welfare and confidence whilst reducing their vulnerability. Also, their school attendance and results have improved.
